The Discover Seoul Pass can save money on a paid-attraction itinerary. It can also turn a perfectly pleasant Seoul holiday into an anxious competition against a countdown.
The useful question is not how many attractions the brochure lists. It is which places you genuinely want to visit, how far apart they are, and what those visits would cost without a pass.
There is another wrinkle in 2026: Pick 3 rules have changed, the main official lineup differs from some reseller packages, and an airport benefit can start the sightseeing clock earlier than you expect. This guide helps you choose a pass around your trip—not rearrange your trip around a QR code.

Start with the itinerary you would actually enjoy
Choose Pick 3 Basic if you want three participating paid experiences without building several days around admissions. Choose Pick 3 Theme Park if a participating theme park is a priority and you also want two other included experiences.
A 72-hour pass is worth comparing when you have a compact run of attraction-heavy days. The 120-hour version makes more sense for visitors who want additional paid sightseeing across a longer stay, rather than simply more time to wander.
Skip the pass if your plan mostly involves markets, cafés, shopping, neighborhood walks and modestly priced cultural stops. A holiday does not become less successful because your best afternoon involved sitting down.
Start with our three-day Seoul itinerary, remove the stops you do not care about, then calculate the paid admissions left. That order matters: building a wish list after buying a pass tends to produce very enthusiastic mathematics.
The current choices, without the package-name confusion
The official Discover Seoul Pass site displayed these standard prices when checked:
| Pass | Standard price | Basic decision |
|---|---|---|
| Pick 3 Basic | ₩49,000 | Three eligible non-theme-park attractions within its five-day validity |
| Pick 3 Theme Park | ₩70,000 | One eligible theme park plus two eligible non-theme-park attractions within five days |
| 72H | ₩90,000 | Included sightseeing over 72 consecutive hours |
| 120H | ₩130,000 | Included sightseeing over 120 consecutive hours |
Treat these as the comparison starting point, not a promise about your checkout price. A physical format, transport bundle or seller promotion can change the product and the total.
Time-sensitive official offer: The operator announced an online autumn sale for October 12–31, 2026: 15% off Pick 3 and 10% off the timed passes. Its codes are 26AUTUMN_P3B, 26AUTUMN_P3T, 26AUTUMN_72H and 26AUTUMN_120H, respectively. Use the matching code on the official website/app and confirm that the discount appears before paying. This is an official-channel promotion, not a Klook coupon. After October 31, do not assume it remains available. See the official autumn-sale notice.
Also resist treating an older 24H or 48H article as the complete current menu. Conversely, do not assume every such product has disappeared: the Klook listing still showed physical 24H and 48H airport-pickup packages alongside newer mobile options during this check. Read the selected package, not just the page headline.
For a seller comparison, check Discover Seoul Pass packages on Klook. Compare the same duration, format and inclusions against the official checkout. A different bundle is not necessarily a better deal, even if its discount badge is larger.
Pick 3 changed: choose carefully before the first scan
The operator's Pick 3 update, effective July 1, 2026, removes the old A/B/C attraction-group restrictions. Basic lets you select three participating non-theme-park options. Theme Park allows one of Lotte World, Everland or Seoul Land, plus two participating non-theme-park choices.
For both mobile and physical Pick 3, register in the app, select all three attractions beforehand and use the app-generated QR. You may change selections before any admission/redemption; after first use, the selection is locked.
That is the practical reason to choose your theme-park day first. Check the forecast, transport and the actual park you want before spending your first selection somewhere else. If two companions have different priorities, they do not need identical passes simply for the sake of symmetry.
Before deciding, read our Lotte World versus Everland comparison. A park that suits your group can be good value; a park chosen only because it appears expensive on a savings chart can consume a day you wanted to spend elsewhere.
Pick 3 is especially attractive when you want a limit on planning. Three enjoyable bookings, with comfortable gaps between them, can beat a longer list of hurried stops. The important constraint is making those three choices deliberately.
The clock trap: airport travel, eSIM and refunds are different things
According to the current official FAQ, the first qualifying free benefit starts activation. Issuing an AREX code starts the pass immediately—even before boarding. Using the K Limousine benefit also activates it.
The FAQ distinguishes two exceptions: using/downloading the eSIM does not start the sightseeing clock, and topping up or using the physical card's transit/prepaid function does not start it either. However, using the eSIM removes refund eligibility even if the sightseeing clock has not started. Obtain that benefit before the pass expires and check device compatibility.
Clock status and refund eligibility are separate checks. Read your seller's cancellation conditions before redeeming anything.
Consider an arrival afternoon when you expect only dinner and sleep. If redeeming an airport benefit starts a timed pass then, some of your purchased hours disappear while you are checking into a hotel. Paying separately for that transfer may preserve a much more useful sightseeing window the next morning.
Do the comparison rather than automatically rejecting the airport benefit. If you arrive early, have energy and already planned paid sightseeing, activation that morning may fit perfectly. If a delayed flight pushes arrival into the evening, revisit the decision before requesting a code.
For the transfer itself, use our Incheon Airport to Seoul guide. An airport connection that leaves you far from your hotel may not be the most convenient option simply because it is bundled.
Make a small savings calculation, not a trophy collection
Write down three numbers: the actual individual-ticket total, the pass checkout total, and extra spending caused by the pass itinerary.
Use tickets you could realistically book for your dates. Comparing a discounted pass against the highest possible walk-up prices exaggerates savings when discounted individual tickets are readily available.
Here is a hypothetical example, not a current attraction-price quote. Suppose three activities you already wanted cost ₩70,000 together, and your selected pass costs ₩49,000. The apparent saving is ₩21,000. If squeezing them together adds a ₩10,000 taxi you would otherwise avoid, the financial advantage is ₩11,000. Decide whether that still feels worthwhile.
Then remove any activity you added only to make the pass look good. Its advertised ticket value is not money saved if you would never have bought it.
For children, compare the child's standalone admission prices with the pass actually offered to them; do not copy an adult calculation. For groups, calculate per person. A traveler who enjoys rides and a companion who prefers long lunches can have very different break-even points.
Finally, give the plan a weather test. If rain cancels the outdoor part of your wish list, would the remaining visits still justify the purchase? If not, buying close to your travel dates—after checking seller availability and voucher validity—may be more sensible than locking everything in months ahead.
Build around geography: three useful planning blocks
These are routing ideas, not guaranteed inclusion lists. Before assigning a pass benefit, verify the exact attraction, entitlement, booking requirement and operating day in the official attraction directory. Similar names do not mean the same ticket.
Jongno and the historic center: leave space between bookings
A palace-area morning works best when the rest of the day stays reasonably close. If your selected benefit involves hanbok, investigate the shop's return deadline before adding an afternoon booking across the city. Changing clothes, storing a bag and returning an outfit all take time that a map's travel estimate does not show.
Our Gyeongbokgung hanbok rental guide explains the planning decisions. Do not assume any rental shop you find is a participating pass partner, or that every style and accessory is included.
Keep lunch flexible. A booking at the far end of town immediately after a rental return creates an avoidable race. On a pass day, the most valuable reservation can be the one you choose not to make.
Gangnam and Jamsil: check the exact venue, then check the distance
An aquarium visit can anchor a south-of-the-river block, but match the venue name carefully. COEX Aquarium, another aquarium and an observation deck are not interchangeable entries just because an itinerary groups them under “Gangnam attractions.”
Even apparently neighboring districts require real transfer time. Count the walk from the building entrance to the correct platform, the transfer and the walk out again. When using a station with many exits, save the venue's recommended exit before leaving your hotel; recovering from the wrong side of a large road is not a sightseeing highlight.
If you choose an observation experience, keep visibility in mind. Paying for a skyline on a poor-visibility day is a different proposition from seeing the same view under clear skies. Check weather and cancellation conditions before making it the centerpiece of your savings calculation.
Give a theme park a proper day

Give a theme-park day room to breathe. AI-generated planning illustration; not a photograph of Lotte World or evidence of current pass benefits.
A theme park should not be a brief detour between several timed appointments. Queues, meals and simply finding your next ride are part of the visit. Pass admission is not evidence that a separate express-access product, premium experience or transport service is included.
Choose your must-do experiences, check any ride restrictions that matter to your group and plan the return journey before entering. Keep a backup meeting point if your party separates. Photograph the location on your own phone rather than relying on everyone remembering the same entrance.
For a timed sightseeing pass, consider placing the park where it does not force you to abandon other prepaid plans. For Pick 3, the appeal is different: enjoy that substantial day, then use your remaining selections at a more comfortable pace within the product's validity.
It is an attraction pass, not unlimited Seoul transport
A transit-capable physical card still needs a balance. Having a card function is different from having unlimited subway and bus travel. Mobile sightseeing access does not automatically provide that physical transit function, either.
If everyday transport is the real problem you are trying to solve, compare a separate Seoul Climate Card for tourists. Check its actual coverage and the version being sold; a bundle name should not replace a transport plan.
Keep your hotel location in the calculation. Saving a little on accommodation can become inconvenient if every pass day begins and ends with a long cross-city journey. Our best areas to stay in Seoul guide helps you choose a base before comparing rooms.
Once you have chosen an area, compare Seoul hotels on Agoda using the map. This opens a citywide search—not a shortlist of hotels beside your selected attraction. Check the nearest useful station, cancellation terms and final room total.
Continuing to Busan? Treat that as a separate journey. This Seoul sightseeing purchase is not an intercity rail pass. You can check Seoul–Busan train options on Trip.com; select your date and verify the actual service, fare and cancellation rules before booking. Do not count that separate fare as a Discover Seoul Pass inclusion.
What to check while you still have hotel Wi-Fi
First, open the actual selected package confirmation. A seller's order number, a purchase receipt and the admission credential are not necessarily the same thing. Follow the registration steps attached to your product, then confirm you can access the relevant pass screen.
Second, inspect your chosen attraction's redemption instructions. Look for a designated exchange counter, reservation requirement, last admission time or excluded service. A working QR code does not override capacity limits or a closure. Save the venue name in Korean as well as English if you may need help finding the counter.
Third, separate voucher validity from activated pass duration. The booking may have a deadline for starting or redeeming it; the sightseeing product then has its own validity rules. Check both before buying far ahead or postponing your trip. Never infer that a five-day sightseeing benefit means an unused voucher can sit indefinitely.
Fourth, keep a charged phone and a way to access your booking details. A saved confirmation is useful for support, but do not assume a screenshot can replace a live QR or whatever the attraction specifically requires. For a group, know which traveler owns which pass before you reach the counter.
Lastly, check payment and refund details at checkout. Look at the final currency and total, not only the first displayed price. If payment fails, inspect the order status and your card notification before trying again; two successful orders are rarely the sort of bonus a traveler wants.
The choice that usually holds up after arrival
Pick 3 is the simpler comparison for travelers with a short, definite wish list. A timed pass deserves consideration when several paid experiences already fit your route, not when you need to invent more stops to justify it.
Before paying, make sure you can answer four questions: Which exact visits am I buying? What would I otherwise pay? When will I activate? What happens if one visit becomes impossible?
If those answers are clear, compare the official promotion with an equivalent reseller package and choose the final offer that suits you. If they are still vague, keep planning. Seoul offers plenty to do while a pass remains safely unpurchased.
