Confirmed for autumn 2026: the Andong International Maskdance Festival runs from September 24 to October 4. This year’s theme is “Memories of Mask, Everyone’s Dance,” with the opening ceremony scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on September 25.
The festival mixes Korean mask traditions with international performances, parades, competitions and audience-participation programs. It is lively, occasionally noisy and much more fun once you stop trying to behave like a museum visitor.
Choose the Right Festival Base
The program is spread across Central Line 1942 Andong Station, Talchum Park, the old downtown area and Hahoe Village. Do not plan these as if they were neighboring stages. Use the official daily timetable to choose one main zone, then add a second only when the travel time makes sense.

Arrival and Timing
Andong Station is the most convenient rail arrival point, but check which venue hosts the performance you actually want before following the crowd. Festival days can change normal traffic patterns, and the official site provides separate pages for directions, parking and shuttle information.
If you are visiting for one day, prioritize one headline performance, one participatory event and enough unplanned time to watch a parade or eat. Trying to collect every stage is a reliable way to see a great deal of pavement and surprisingly little dancing.
Tickets, Weather and Accommodation
Admission arrangements vary by program, so check the official timetable and ticket page rather than assuming the whole festival follows one rule. Outdoor events may also move or change in poor weather. For a weekend visit or the closing holiday period, booking accommodation early is sensible because the festival draws regional and overnight visitors.
